My name is Andrew Shum and I’m currently a student at Essex County College majoring in New Media Technology. I intern at Techdesigno working on Graphic Design and animation.

Growing up, I have always had an interest in art. Though I was not the best amongst my fellow peers, I’ve always held a fair amount of pride in what work I made/did. Most of my art work throughout school mostly consisted of pencil/painting works. It was only after graduating high school did I discover graphic design, mostly after seeing what works people have made online. I find that graphic design allows me to work and be more accurate in a way that a writing tool doesn’t; but I also find I like to create more on paper and then edit it digitally. Generally speaking, I work mostly with Adobe applications, such as Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Edge Animate, and lately, After Effects.

My goals are to improve my graphic designing skills as well as my animation ability. I’d like to create something and see it have an actual purpose rather than the fan works I usually make and just watch them pile up in the hard drive. Ultimately, I’d like to end up animating for a show or video game. I look forward to working at Techhdesigno and learning how to make good quality work. I feel I learn something new every day and for me, that’s a lot right there.
